Now what?
September 16, 2014
I published The Feast a week ago, and have been enjoying a dramatically reduced level of stress. However, I’ve been getting the urge to keep writing. I thought I was going to take an extended break to recover from my odd hours (often waking up in the middle of the night to write from 3-6am and go back to sleep for a couple hours….not too healthy!), obsessive attitude toward editing (not a bad thing, but it was consuming me), and spend more time with my daughter, who had been spending a bit too much time with the TV while I was on my laptop.
However, Delaterra is calling to me. I knew at some point I wanted to write a sequel, but I was not prepared for the sudden knowing of just how that was going to happen. The entire story unfolded in my mind, the pieces of the puzzle fell together, and I started writing the first chapters with ease. I can’t not write, it’s that simple.
So, I will participate in NaNoWriMo again this year and hope to tackle a large chunk of the story, even without taking time off work this time. I have no idea when the sequel will be any kind of complete, but I’m just happy to say it’s in the works and I’m optimistic about it.
Stay tuned for another random update at an unknown, future time!
